Field Engineer – Laptop RAM Upgrade (Dispatch Task)

Work Scope:

Dispatch-based task.
Working hours are task-dependent; duration is not fixed and will be based on actual time required to complete the activity.

Task Description:

• Perform RAM upgrade on 2 laptops

• Validate successful installation and system recognition

• Provide documentation and evidence of completion

Deliverables:

• Two (2) laptops successfully upgraded with RAM

• RAM installation validated in BIOS and Operating System

• Documentation and validation evidence provided (screenshots/logs)

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Activities

• Identify and verify laptop RAM specifications (DDR3 / DDR4 / DDR5, frequency, form factor, compatibility)

• Check BIOS/UEFI settings and confirm RAM detection

• Perform basic diagnostics (e.g., Windows Memory Diagnostic, BIOS checks)

Hands-On Support

• Safely open laptop casing without damage

• Install or replace RAM modules using anti-static precautions

• Reassemble laptops securely and ensure proper hardware fit

Process & Compliance

• Follow customer Information Security (Infosec) and compliance guidelines

• Record asset tags and serial numbers before and after upgrade

• Update system inventory with new RAM specifications

Validation & Testing

• Confirm RAM is detected in BIOS and OS

• Perform boot and functionality checks

• Capture before/after screenshots or logs as validation evidence

Documentation & Reporting

• Provide installation and validation report to customer

• Document issues and resolution steps, if any

• Escalate to Service Desk in case of incompatibility or hardware failure

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong understanding of laptop hardware and RAM installation

• Hands-on experience with laptop disassembly and upgrades

• Ability to follow structured processes and documentation standards

• Familiarity with enterprise IT support environments
